Cataract, Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgeon

Dr. Evan Michaelov is a Cataract, Glaucoma, and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgeon. His expertise ranges from routine to complex cataract surgery, refractive surgery, iris repair, and all aspects of glaucoma diagnosis and management. He is a board-certified fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is on staff at Michael Garron Hospital and William Osler Health Systems.

Dr. Michaelov completed his Honours Bachelor of Science at Western University, for which he received the Gold Medal for the highest grade in his graduating cohort. His Medical Degree and Ophthalmology training were also completed at Western University. Dr. Michaelov has also received additional training, completing his research fellowship in glaucoma and advanced anterior segment surgery with the University of Toronto, and his clinical fellowship in glaucoma and advanced anterior segment surgery with McGill University. He is proficient in both traditional and modern glaucoma surgical techniques including laser procedures, microinvasive glaucoma procedures, and filtering surgeries which allows his patients to have a wide variety of treatment options most suitable for them.

Dr. Michaelov has been recognized for his excellence in research, including multiple awards at international conferences, recently winning 1st place for excellence in ophthalmic research at the Canadian Ophthalmology Society for his research on Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty – a non-invasive laser intervention for certain types of glaucoma. Dr. Michaelov has also been recognized for his presentation skills, twice winning awards for his presentation to peers during residency, and for his teaching skills - winning the inaugural peer teaching award at Western University.

Dr. Michaelov grew up in the GTA and is happy to be back home to serve his community. He believes in empowering patients to make informed decisions on treatment that is best for them. He looks forward to being a part of your healthcare journey!
