Dr Kay Lam MD FRCSC is an ophthalmologist with subspecialty expertise in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, cataract, refractive surgery, and comprehensive ophthalmology. She is a staff surgeon at William Osler Health Systems.

She  received her Bachelor of Sciences (BSc) degree at the University of Western Ontario, and then completed medical school (MD) at the University of Toronto. She undertook a fellowship in Ocular Pathology at the University of Ottawa, and then spent the next 5 years completing her ophthalmology specialty training at the University of Toronto, where she served as Chief Resident. She then completed specialized fellowship training at the University of Sydney, Australia, and gained advanced training in glaucoma surgery including trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage device surgery, endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation, and Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS). She can provide medical, laser, and surgical treatment for a wide variety of ophthalmological conditions.

She has been recognized for her clinical excellence with the St. Michael Hospital’s Michael Shea Award for Best Senior Resident. She was awarded first prize for research excellence by the Canadian Ophthalmological Society. The Glaucoma Society of Australia also recognized her excellence with the Kathleen Holmes scholarship.

She has an interest in medical education and has been involved in training medical students, residents, and teaching other physicians. She has also served as an examiner for the Medical Council of Canada. Dr Lam has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals, and book chapters on glaucoma. She has presented on glaucoma management and surgery at national and international ophthalmology conferences.

She is a board-certified Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC). She is also an active member of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society, Canadian Medical Association, Ontario Medical Association and the Toronto Ophthalmological Society.

Dr Lam grew up in the GTA and is thrilled to be serving her local community. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient centered and evidence-based care. She speaks conversational Cantonese Chinese and enjoys travelling in her spare time.
